HARU 春 (meaning “Spring” in Japanese). When the sakura in Japan bloom their thousand shades of pink, it signals the winter has ended, and Haru has arrived.  Flowers bloom in the tentative warmth of springtime in Germany, too, and with them a beer to usher us out of the cold and into the sun: Maibock. A confident hop profile of spice and grass mimics new growth, while a dynamic malt profile and a touch of alcohol warmth bring heft to weather the cold evenings. A long, dry finish cleans the palate, rounding out a beer a memorable yet elusive as the springtime in Toronto.
